Port Renfrew Accommodation Guide (2026)

Port Renfrew is a small place, and the accommodation options reflect that. There are no big hotel chains out here, no resort complexes, and no lobbies with luggage carts. What you get instead is a good selection of cottages, cabins, lodges, and campsites, most of them sitting right on or very near the water.

Although it's a small town with just 2 coffee shops and 'the' pub, there is a huge selection of accommodation options. This guide will break down the top-rated options and go over the pros and cons of each accommodation style to help you pick the stay that is right for you.

How to Think About Where to Stay

The main thing to sort out before you book is what you are actually coming to do. If Botanical Beach is the priority, you want to be on the San Juan Bay side of town, close enough that you can time your visit around low tide without a long drive. If you are hiking the West Coast Trail, proximity to the trailhead matters more. And if you are coming as a group, Port Renfrew has several larger properties that sleep anywhere from six to sixteen people, which changes the value calculation significantly compared to booking multiple rooms somewhere else.

The other thing worth knowing is that Port Renfrew books up fast in summer, especially on weekends. If you have a specific property in mind, do not leave it too long.

Camping

Pacheedaht Campground is run by the paaʔčiidʔatx̣ (Pacheedaht) First Nation on a 100-plus-acre property and is the most scenic camping option in the area. You are choosing between oceanside sites right on the beach and quieter spots tucked back into the forest. Either way, you are waking up to the sound of the Pacific, which is a pretty good way to start a day of hiking.

Fairy Lake Recreation Site sits at a widening of the San Juan River along the Pacific Circle Route, about ten minutes outside of Port Renfrew. It is a forested campground surrounding a small lake with a gravel beach and a boat launch for boats up to 14 feet. RV-friendly and popular, so it books up fast. Sites run $20 a night for single and $40 for double, with an $18 reservation fee. Reservations open March 1st on a rolling 60-day window. If you want to skip the fee, sites 03, 06, 09, 10/11, 20, 28, and 32 are first-come, first-served. Firewood is available on site for $20 cash when campfires are permitted. The 2026 season runs May 1 to October 1.

Port Renfrew Marina and RV Park is the practical choice if you are travelling in an RV or want hookups. It sits right at the marina with easy access to fishing charters and kayaking, and is a short drive from the rest of town.

Other Options

These are my top recommendations, but there are many more great accommodation options in Port Renfrew.

Standard options are best browsed through Booking.com and Expedia.ca

Larger properties for families and large groups are best found through VRBO.

Many properties only list themselves on one platform, so it is best to go through a few different platforms to compare all your options.

FAQ

What is the best area to stay in Port Renfrew?
It depends on what you're coming to do. Staying on the San Juan Bay side of town is best if Botanical Beach is the priority, since it lets you time your visit around low tide without a long drive. If you're hiking the West Coast Trail, proximity to the trailhead matters more than which side of town you're on.
What are the camping options in Port Renfrew?
Pacheedaht Campground, run by the Pacheedaht First Nation, is the most scenic option, with a choice between oceanside sites and quieter forested spots. Fairy Lake Recreation Site sits about ten minutes outside town on the Pacific Circle Route and is popular with RVs, so it books up fast. Port Renfrew Marina and RV Park is the practical choice for travelers needing hookups, with easy access to fishing charters and kayaking.
Are there hotels in Port Renfrew?
Port Renfrew doesn't have big hotel chains or resort complexes. West Coast Trail Lodge is the closest thing, with twenty fully renovated suites and ocean and forest views, about two kilometres from the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail. Where should large groups stay in Port Renfrew?
Port Renfrew Wilderness Lodge is one of the more practical large-group options, a four-bedroom, three-bathroom ranch-style lodge sleeping up to twelve with a hot tub and large kitchen, a short walk from the marina, pubs, and cafes.
